Easter traditions

Well this year for Easter we Doug & I were sick. Some sort of NASTY FLU BUG!! Doug had it for 3 weeks & I for 2 weeks. Regardless we managaed to do a little Easter shopping & at the last minute dye some eggs!

Doug liked dying yellow eggs mostly! We had quite a few by the time we were done!
We love dying eggs but not eating the hard boiled eggs so much. So we boil about a dozen & then just dye the rest of our raw eggs for fun. The boiled eggs get a dot on top so we can identify them later for potatoe salad.

The Easter bunny was quite generous. Sierra & I got an Easter outfit with jewelry accessories & Doug got a huge bath tub duck. He has been into yellow ducks lately!!
and of course far too much candy!!!

It was a nice Easter!! We woke up to snow but it was melted by late afternoon & it was nice to get some moisture for the plants. My tulips are still making their way through the soil. Someday soon they will make their debute

We hope you & your Family had a Happy Easter & celebrated our Savior.

Happy St Patty's Day!!!

We don't do a lot for this holiday but I love ANY holiday that allows me to think of the people I care about & to send them my best wishes.
The only thing we really do for St. Patty's Day is wear GREEN of course. Or if your a teenage girl. You don't & hope to get pinched.
And for dinner we will be eating corn beef & stewed cabbage which we actually like.

What are your St. Patty's Day traditions?

Scripture Study

I took the Hinckley challenge after the Prophet's passing. It is to honor him by reading the Book of Mormon in 97 days because that is how old he was when he died. You started on February 4th & finish on April 11th. Anyway so I got 5 days behind in my reading (there is a great site, readthescriptures.com that tracks your reading you should check it out) & I had to read a bizillion chapters yesterday. Which while time consuming it is an amazing experience to immerse yourself in the scriptures.
I was reading in Alma 5 & as I was reading I thought if there is any doubt as to where you stand in your current life before the Lord this chapter lays it out in the most simpliest terms. I am so grateful that the Lord had his prophets write for people like me who need it spelled out for them once in a while. Unlike Isaiah I get this.

Many of you may not know but I was re-baptised March 13th 1988. 20 years ago today! And as I just recently turned 40 it is nice to know that I have now lived a righteous life longer than I did not. Today I am feeling very grateful for parents who did not give up on me & for my Loving Heavenly Father & Savior that were always there for me even when I tried to ignore them!! (if you are saying WHAT!!! if you have any questions I would be glad to share my story with any one who asks because who I am today has come about because of what I experienced it is part of me)

Gratefully, Wendy

Still struggling with the time change....

OK so my daughter tells me we have Benjamin Franklin to Thank for the day light savings time change. Thanks a lot Ben! Anyway so Monday morning... I woke up around 10 to answer the phone. I finish with my call & who should come walking out of her room at 10:20 AM but Sierra!!

She tells me "Don't be mad Mom, I had a headache & I got up & took some asprin & went back to bed & I didn't re-set my alarm."
So I called her in with a headache & she & I spent the day together lounging!! It was a FUN unplanned sluff day!! We downloaded new music to our I-pods and played computer games together. The kids today are so technology savy! I rely on her to help me operate my I-pod, add music & just all around use it. I am learning little by little. I love my I-pod by the way!
So I am working this week on going to sleep at a decent hour (11-ish) so that I can get up at a decent hour & not sleep the day away... if no one wakes me up that can happen. Then I feel overwhelmed because there is so much to do & no time to do it! But it is getting better. I am not so tired today!
I did get in a good couple of days of walking in before it got cold again & the forecast is for rain maybe snow. So today I will be doing aerobics inside!!!
Anyone have any ideas to make exercising inside more fun & motivational?
Have a great week!!

Who invented daylight savings time anyway????

So since the time changed I can not convince my body it should go to bed. Last night I had insomnia & tonight it looks like I am going to have it again. The clock says 1AM but I don't feel like it's even 11. Then this morning(meaning yesterday) Sierra comes running into our room. Mom, Dad, It's 10:15. (I'm thinking Great I actually slept in) & she says exasperated with me. I had a meeting at 10. So we rushed to get dressed & get her to her YW meeting ASAP!!

All day long I have felt like the day was lasting longer & then I looked at a clock & we should be reading scriptures & having family prayers. So this new time change is going to take some getting used to!! But I am really looking forward to it warming up & being able to get back in to my routine of walking everyday!

For my b-day Doug surprised me with an I-pod Video Nano so I can listen to music as I walk. That will be nice!

While the time change throws everything off for a bit. It is nice to have more daylight after we get home from church at 4ish.

Here's to sunnier days!!

Trying something New

Well Susan did it ! So I thought I'd try it!!
A little about my family.
We are very blessed to get to spend a lot of time together as a family!
Our life is Happily busy!!

Doug is a plumber for almost 10 yrs now.
He likes to cook & play with fire. Just ask his scouts.

Sierra is in 8th grade about to enter High School next year.
She is a Geek but we are glad of that because she is an honor student
& a good kid!! Some day she could be a rocket scientist if that is what she chooses.
I am a stay at home Mom & I keep busy with many hobbies & trying to help people out where I can! I try to stay in touch with people important in my life! Family is important to me... so I bug them often.

I am looking forward to the new grass of Spring. My tulips were just breaking ground when it snowed here in CO! I hope they can weather the storm &come out stronger blooms for their efforts.....
I so have SPRING FEVER!!! I want to be able to go out walking & enjoy the warmth of the sun as I ponder life.. and view the beauty of this world.
That's all for now...
