THANKSGIVING

So waiting for Thanksgiving to come I decided to start doing some of my 20 puzzles. So every day the week before I would work on a puzzle before getting ready for work...most were fairly easy but this puzzle which took me 3 days to complete was my nemisis.

Sierra came home the Friday before Thanksgiving and when she was busy babysitting I was working on this puzzle.

This year it was JUST THE 3 of us for THANKSGIVING usually we have a house full of guests. It was nice and very casual.

When we got up Doug and Sierra did the pies together.
Doug made the crusts and Sierra made the fillings.

Sierra shaking the apples and cinnamon for the apple pie.

Doug made the rolls.
                                        Pies made and rolls rising...

We decided to just bowl at home this year so we played Wii Bowling.

 We bowled 3 games

Here are some actions shots!

He reminds me of Fred Flintstone when he bowls :)

Sierra is a casual bowler...ho hum

I am an intense bowler.... I want to knock all the pins down
every time or at least get the spare.

 "STRIKE" finally

We had fun then it was time to work on the sides for dinner...

When we went into the kitchen this is what we saw out the back window apparently our squirrel decided that pumpkin would make a mighty fine Thanksgiving dinner...

Sierra was in charge of mashed potatoes

                                           "MASH"ing the potatoes
She also made Grandma As whipped jello

This is what it looks like when it is set
and it tastes like a raspberry cloud...

The turkey was done around 1:30pm and we ate at 2.

Doug's yummy rolls

Sierra ready to carve the turkey
Doug can't resist getting in the picture

                                   Doug's succulent brined turkey :D

The table set for dinner.
We kept the hot stuff on the stove

It was a FABULOUS meal!

After dinner we played some board games

Playing Blokus

These are the games we played the rest of the evening.
My subjects got tired of me taking pictures...

November "An Attitude of Gratitude"

In church last week we had a lesson on gratitude and with  THANKSGIVING coming up...I figured it would be a good month to think about my many blessings! So I share with you my attitude of gratitude.

I AM GRATEFUL FOR...

Having always been a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints but this year more than ever I am aware of what a BLESSING it is to have been born into the church and to have chosen to return to it in my late teens.

to have been born of GOODLY parents who taught me right from wrong and who have always made me feel loved and safe.

for my HEALTH. I am fluffy but I have been blessed to be healthy through out my life...

to be both a WIFE and a MOTHER! That I have 2 wonderful people to share my life with now and in the eternities!

for the TECHNOLOGY that allows my daughter to call me from college when ever she wants to chat or sends me a text to know she is home safe!
Also it allows me to stay in touch with family and friends...

for the SCRIPTURES. The more I read them the more I see the parallels between what we are facing and how the Lord takes care of his faithful people when they OBEY Him.

for my TALENT to sing in our ward choir. I so enjoy sharing my love of music with so many truly talented people.

a JOB that helps take care of my family and help kids.

a warm HOME and that my NEEDS are met daily!

for the LIFE LESSONS I have had that have taught me what I needed to know..even the very difficult ones!

Well there are the first 10....more to come next week!

Continued Nov 26th, 2012
While I have not been on to post I have been more aware of my blessings knowing I would be doing so... now if I can just do it all the time and not just during the holidays...

I am THANKFUL...

that I was taught about a loving HEAVENLY FATHER who has a plan of happiness for me.

that I KNOW I am a DAUGHTER OF GOD and He sent me here to Earth to grow and learn how to live so that I can return home to Him someday...

that my SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST makes it possible through His Atonement, that when I make mistakes I can just REPENT and KEEP TRYING because of what He did for me and the world.

that I come from a FAMILY of 8

that I have SIBLINGS

that DEATH is not the END...that even though I lost a sister to Leukemia .. my faith COMFORTS me that I will see her again!

for the BEAUTY of the EARTH, sunshine, rain, snow, clouds, flowers, furry friends...

for the SEASONS

that I CAN SEE AND HEAR

for COLORS

for MUSIC

I live in a FREE country! GOD BLESS AMERICA!

to all the men and women who serve in our military to keep our country FREE and help others to be FREE!

for MODERN MEDICINE that when I am pain I can find relief!

for MODERN APPLIANCES

for MODERN TRANSPORTATION

for the GREAT MINDS that came up with them!

for EDUCATION, for teachers that REALLY CARE and will do what the children need not what is expected or easiest!

for what I have LEARNED and for the POTENTIAL I have to LEARN MORE!!!

that I KNOW HOW TO WORK

that I can be RESPONSIBLE

for EXTENDED  FAMILY grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins,

for a GREAT HERITAGE, for record keepers, for my ancestors, for geneaology and geneaologist!

for FAMILY get togethers, for the holidays that make it possible, for Family Reunions, family occasions...

for PIONEERS in all areas of life

I hope that over this last month you have had time to reflect what you are THANKFUL for and COUNTED YOUR MANY BLESSINGS! ♥...if not, you could do so now.

October

October just flew by!  We went from General Conference weekend to Halloween, in a blink of an eye! The BEST part was Sierra came home 3 weekends in a row. Partly because her computer died after the first weekend and we had to replace it as soon as possible. Apparently walking across campus to the library to get on a computer to do your homework was really roughing it!

The new computer came a week early !! Thank you! DELL!

I came home from work 1 day and Doug couldn't wait to show me what he caught in our back yard a racer snake. After the snow melted he let it go.
 That night it snowed!
We finally carved pumpkins a couple nights before Halloween
With Sierra not here it was hard to feel like decorating..but I needed a centerpiece for our trunk or treat and so I had to get the Halloween stuff out anyway so I decorated with the easy stuff. But no window painting...
Ripping the guts out of my pumpkin
Doug made a sort of carmel corn and I had a bowl full to munch on and I kicked it all over the floor...
For some reason that was hilarious to me...
But I cleaned up my mess
 Our finished pumpkins
Mine is being held together with toothpicks because I carved it and it simply fell out ( I should've taken a picture but I was really mad and so I didn't think of it)
Doug made me lemon and raspberry flavored jello popcorn with 3 colors and I put them in ziplocks for the kids on Halloween!
A close up of the popcorn pink, orange and black
My pumpkin all lit up.
Doug's creepy face pumpkin all lit up
This was the shirt I wore to school on Halloween
It glows in the dark. :D
We had about 20 trick or treaters totally!
 That was our month!
